POSTER PRESENTATION

The objective of the poster session is to give presenters an improved opportunity to share their work and gain feedback on a one to one basis from conference participants. Our goal is to provide a high quality poster session that is comparable to oral sessions in terms of presentation quality.

Poster Session A:

Wednesday, 19th August from 12:35 - 14:00 Hrs

Poster Session B:

Thursday, 20th August from 12:35 - 14:00 Hrs

During the first two days of DrugInfoMeet, the registered participants are encouraged to present posters on relevant research related to the conference theme. The posters will be displayed during the lunch breaks of the first two days, 19th and 20th August 2009.

Are you interested?

The conference secretariat would then like to receive a summary of a maximum of 400 words before August 5, 2009.  Upon receipt, you will receive a confirmation of acceptance or rejection of your poster summary no later than August 10, 2009. Acceptance of the summary for a poster has no effect whatsoever upon your registration fee for the conference and/or the workshop.

Summary:

The summary will preferably include the following:

Title, name and organisation of key researcher, names and organisations of co-researchers, premise/background, objective, method, result/findings, discussion and conclusion. References to literature, tables and other appendices are not required.

To guard impartiality/neutrality the conference secretariat would appreciate it if you mention any conflicting interests.

Sending in your summary:

Please send your summary in a word document to  denovodrugs@gmail.com and manojtk@iiitmk.ac.in.

Poster sessions in general:

·   A poster session is a presentation where materials such as graphs, charts, maps, photographs, and/or tables are posted on a display board along with brief textual summaries of the presenter’s work.

·   Each poster display includes a title(s) and name(s) of the presenter(s) in large, easy-to-read letters. The title may be composed of CAPITAL letters that are 3 cm high.

·   A well-constructed poster is self-explanatory, and a successful poster presentation achieves both coverage and clarity. Extensive, imaginative use of captioned illustrations, photos, graphs, or other types of visually appealing material is an extremely effective mode of communication in a poster presentation. Remember to label each section of your presentation clearly.

·    People attending poster sessions generally move freely from poster to poster, and there is not enough time for people to read excessive text. Text may be limited to four or five pages of double-spaced, 16 to 20 point text. This allows lettering to be read from distances of 1m to 2m.

Poster Presentation Guidelines

If your summary is accepted for a poster presentation, we request you take the following into account. The summary of your poster will be used in the program schedule / handout, without any editing on our behalf. The contributor will be present during the poster presentation (lunch break) and available for discussion and to answer any questions.

Please note the following guidelines while preparing your posters:

·       Presenters will have an assigned board at the conference, and must set up the posters right after the conference onsite-registration / arrival in the morning on the first day of the conference, 19th August 2009.

·       Each confirmed poster/presenter will be provided with a 90 cm x 120 cm display board (so that you may use 85 cm x 100 cm poster or smaller) and pushpins. Do not write or paint directly on the display boards. AV equipment and electricity are not provided.  No other materials or facilities for poster preparation will be provided at the conference venue.

·       Your poster should be labeled and laid out in a clear and logical format to effectively communicate the results of your work (preferably NOT as a series of A4 pages with 12 point text!). Posters will typically be viewed at distances of 1m to 2m, hence, the text and graphics used should be able to be read at these distances (we recommend text font sizes of 16 point or larger).

·       Posters should be composed of a light weight durable material; use of a matte finish laminate is also encouraged to improve readability. We encourage poster authors to have their work critiqued by colleagues prior to the final printing to ensure you have an optimal layout and easily understood text.

·       The header on the poster should contain the title, author’s names and affiliations. Please provide an abstract as a part of the poster and it is important to underline the presenting author.

·       Use the minimum amount of text possible and describe only what is essential to make your point clear. Be concise, but organize in a logical manner like introduction, experimental methods, results and conclusion. Use large BOLD lettering for readability, but please avoid fancy fonts.

·       Poster presenters will be responsible for putting up and removing their posters and the conference organizers are not responsible for any posters not collected after the take-down time.

·       The poster sessions coincide with the lunch break on both days. Lunch is served as a buffet, so we encourage presenters to get their lunch quickly and bring it to their poster display. Presenters are expected to make themselves available at all times during the poster session.

·       You may leave your presentation up after the poster session, but please take everything with you when you leave for the day.
